Job Description
The Linux Systems Engineer will drive the design of our system architecture and actively prepare for new technical implementations (hardware, platform, product deployments). For Server Operations, support day-to-day operations of Deployment Systems and services to include: BDD, WinPE, WDS, ADS, PXE. For Network Operations, support day-to-day operations of Deployment Systems and services to include: TACACS+, SNMP, TFTP, Quagga, Syslog, Snort, etc.Script the automation of regular tasks to help streamline operations and perform data collection. Develop methods of collection and reporting network information for business decisions. Participate in the planning of future network services and development of applications/software to accomplish requirements. Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation with peers. Lead technical projects, working with staff and vendors to gather requirements, scope technical efforts, determine solutions, setup project tasks/plans, and implement those solutions.
Responsibility:
- Responsible for architectural design and development of hardware, software and product deployments.
- Analyzes systems and determines business requirements.
- Ensures completeness and compatibility of the technical infrastructure to support system performance.
- Keeps informed of new technology.
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Advanced Linux System Administration, Configuration, and System Security.
- Advanced systems troubleshooting skills.
- For Server Operations, intermediate skill level with High-Level Programming language skills (VBS, Batch, VB, HTA, Autolt 3).
- For Network Operations, intermediate skill level with High-Level Programming language skills (Bash, Perl, Python,).
- For Server Operations general Networking skills required.
- For Network Operations, networking skills with Layer 2&3 switches, TCP/IP, SNMP, etc.
- Ability to interact, develop, engineer, and communicate at the highest technical levels of organizational decision-making.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field and 5 to 7 years experience as a Linux System Administrator/Engineer required.
- At the manager’s discretion, additional experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
- A strong background in Linux systems configuration, design, integration, security management, and development.
- The ability to function within a highly dynamic, results driven and high-pressure environment in order to achieve required objectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills.
- Able to work independently and well on a team.
- Creative thinking and ability to 'think outside the box' are ESSENTIAL.
- Well organized, attentive to details, and able to meet demanding deadlines.
