Description
One of our clients, a nationally recognized, NYC-based
cancer foundation seeks a Director of Development with a proven track record in
strategizing, researching, analyzing, executing, evaluating, cultivating and
developing all foundation revenue sources, including sponsorship, individual
and board donors, cause marketing and fundraising partnerships, grants and
events.
Reporting to and working closely with the
Foundation's Executive Director, the Director of Development will develop and
implement a diversified fundraising plan that is aligned with the organization's
strategic plan and is updated yearly. The position is part of the leadership
team of a small tight knit organization, serves as a compelling spokesperson
for the Foundation, and supervises the activities of a Development Coordinator.
The Director of Development will be responsible for
conducting research on grant making programs of foundations, corporations and
government entities, developing ideas for new fundraising sources as well as
for cultivating relationships with current and potential funders; encourages
sponsor engagement through meetings, presentations, and potential synergistic
opportunities for deeper involvement.
Requirements and qualifications include:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred
- Seven or more years of experience in a nonprofit organization, with at least five of those years in a senior management role within a diverse fund raising or development organization
- Significant experience depth in major donor/sponsor development, individual donor campaigns, donor database management, and special events
- Experience working with a governing board or comparable senior management group preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Effective problem solver and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Experience assisting with annual budge development , goal setting and creating performance metrics
