ChildFund International is seeking an experienced Senior Program Officer to provide leadership and guidance for effective project implementation and post-award management of ChildFund International's global grant portfolio. In supporting leadership and learning around the Children and Young Adolescents and Youth stages of children's development, the Senior Program Officer works collaboratively with divisional, regional and field-based colleagues in implementation, evaluation and learning in line with ChildFund's theory of change for childhood development.

The Senior Program Officer provides guidance around project management to ensure effective post award grant management and successful implementation of awards from U.S. based institutional donors. S/he monitors program and financial performance of assigned projects within the Childhood and Young Adolescents and Youth portfolios to support effective project implementation and contribute to a life stage learning agenda. S/he coaches, trains and provides guidance to National Office Project teams related to project agreements, modifications, work plans and M&E plans, and sub-agreement management.

The Senior Program Officer works collaboratively to standardize and strengthen compliance monitoring tools across the grant portfolio, including the development and implementation of escalation criteria and initiation of corrective action. S/he represents ChildFund at industry critical events and manages US based external donors/ sub-award partners' relationships related to post award management. The Senior Program Officer provides input into proposal development and supervises junior grants management staff.

Required Skills
  • At least 5 years professional experience in project/grant management, including at least 2 years' experience in resource poor settings internationally preferred.
  • Proven ability managing, providing technical assistance, and guidance to project staff and partners regarding US donor agencies including USG, foundations, and corporations.
  • Demonstrated experience moving forward teams composed of professional and support staff to achieve objectives.
  • Good business acumen with the ability to organize work, identify and mitigate risk, troubleshoot issues to minimize crisis situations.
  • Proven ability to set priorities, execute project work efficiently, work within deadlines, and multitask.
  • Proven ability in training and mentoring of staff.
  • Ability to use initiative and independent judgment
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • General understanding of grants budgeting, accounting, cost recovery.
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills in multicultural working environment.
  • Strong proficiency in French, Spanish, or Portuguese highly desirable.
  • Flexible, Adaptable, Detail-oriented, Team Player.
  • Computer literacy, particularly word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
EDUCATION
  • Minimum of: Bachelor degree in related discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience.
