Organizational Setting and Reporting
The Development Policy and Analysis Division/Office of the Director/Capacity Development Team internship is for two months with an opportunity for extension pending the needs of the Department.
The internship is unpaid and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or in the office to which they are assigned

Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period and may include work with Development Account Project on Macroeconomic Advisory Capacity (MAC) and the Development Account Project on National Development Strategies (NDS)

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Conduct country-specific research on various macroeconomic policy instruments for sustainable and equitable development, help develop mission briefs, country reports and policy briefs.
Provide inputs to policy briefs for national and regional consultations on macroeconomic policies.
Conduct research on various strategies and instruments for sustainable and equitable development. The strategies will put emphasis on employment generation and equitable distribution of national income
Conduct background research on successful national development strategies, with particular focus on East Asia;
Assist in the drafting of the project document(s);
Provide inputs to policy briefs for national and regional consultations on development strategies.

Education
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations New York Headquarters Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or higher); or
If pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, have completed at least four years of full time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree.
Be computer literate in standard software applications.

Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the Internship Programme.
