The internship in the Career Support and Performance Management Section of the Office of Human Resources Management of the Department of Management is for two months, with possibility of extension, pending the Section's needs.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the Section to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities
Intern in Management and Operations Support
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background and on the projects of the Section; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
* Help staff to craft focus groups language and collect data.
* Provide assistance in the analysis of survey and focus groups results, working with other departments and consultants as needed.
*conduct research on issues relating to mobility and career development and draft reports summarizing research findings
*review existing human resources policies and systems within the Secretariat

Education
Applicants must be enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school (second university degree or higher); or if pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree. Course in survey methodology, and/or course in data mining would be an advantage.
Be computer literate in standard office software applications and at least one standard statistical application such as SPSS, R, SAS, or Stata. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.
Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideas of the Charter; and
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.
Languages
Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
