HIRING IMMEDIATELY: Canvass Director

The Canvass Director will assist in the planning of, and manage the execution of door-to-door and / or street canvass voter contact programs. The successful candidate will be a dynamic thinker who excels at project management, takes ownership of a program, finds satisfaction in the development of a team, and takes personal pride in all aspects of the job and program. The Canvass Director will be a key member of the team and the face of the program, running all daily aspects of the program, interfacing with the client, voters, and allies.


Responsibilities
  • Recruiting, screening, and hiring all members of the team
  • Training team members in all aspects of performance of their job initially and ongoing utilizing in-office and field tools, and assisting in the development and production of training systems and materials
  • Developing team members to perform beyond their basic goals and to become contributing team members beyond their basic goals
  • Quality Control systems: guaranteeing the validity and effectiveness of work product utilizing field work, voter call-backs, one-on-ones and any available tracking tech
  • Assess and communicate team members' job performance daily utilizing reporting, team meetings, one-on-ones, and other tools as useful
  • Perform administration functions including scheduling, work product reporting, payroll reporting
  • Daily reporting of progress to goal and time line, feedback from the team and intel from the field
  • Assessing program progress and making ongoing recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness

Qualities Required
  • The ability to self-manage: making assessments of one's own strengths and weaknesses and how to handle them
  • The ability to identify strengths and weaknesses: identifying where team members can play the most meaningful role and where they need support
  • The ability to problem solve: developing solutions to challenges including strategies, needs, and means to an end

Experience and Skills Required
  • Minimum two years supervisory / management experience
  • Minimum two years additional organizing experience
  • Mastery of basic office systems and programs including excel, word, file share programs
  • Mastery of standard campaign data systems including VAN and NationBuilder
  • The ability to maintain and develop a budget
  • The ability to travel independently by car or public transportation
  • Strong task management and time management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Foreign language helpful but not required

Pay: Commensurate with experience
