Africare Business Development Intern Job Vacancy in Washington, US

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Business Development Intern will assist the BD Coordinator and BD Assistant in the execution of Africare's proposal process. Utilizing top notch editing skills, the BD Intern will edit capacity statements, past performance references, and proposals in design phase in order to submit timely and high quality proposals.
The intern will also assist in the identification of opportunities by scanning various donor websites such as Devex.com, grants.gov, etc. Through monitoring the BD intranet dashboard and email, the intern will continue the process of disseminating information to the field in order to increase access to up-to-date information about proposal design. The intern will also assist in any other duties assigned by the Business Development Coordinator, the Business Development Assistant, and the Director, International Programs. Through the assistance of these and other daily activities, the intern will gain an understanding of the relationship between various donors and Africare, as well as the internal process used by NGOs to develop and design proposals at HQ.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist BD Coordinator/Assistant with daily tasks:
a. Managing the Opportunity Quality Review (OQR) Process,
b. Edit proposal documents for grammar and proper English
c. Create calendars and monitor proposal design with BD Coordinator/Assistant supervision
d. Attend meetings with Coordinator/Assistant and disseminate notes
2. Liaise with country teams for specific projects assigned by BD Coordinator/Assistant
3. Participate in organizing information for Consultant and Partnership Database
4. Assist the Business Development Coordinator/Assistant on other program related tasks.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Graduate student in International Development, Agriculture, MPH, or other related field.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills – please submit writing sample.
• Organized, highly motivated, able to work independently and as a member of the team.
• Must be able to multi-task under pressure.
• Maintain an organized working environment.
• Reliable and able to keep sensitive information confidential.
• Flexible both relating to task and hours of work.
• High level of computer knowledge including Microsoft Office Products.
• Commitment to Africa and international development.
• Embrace diversity and be capable of working in a diverse environment.
