Eligibility-The applicant must:
-Be a student in good standing at any Virginia accredited college or university and a resident of Virginia at the time of application and at the time of award; and
-Have successfully completed, or will complete by the award date, at least two semesters of undergraduate study; and
-Be a full-time undergraduate, full-time graduate student, or a part-time graduate student enrolled in a curriculum related to water resources including but not limited to: biology, conservation, ecology, engineering, environmental science, geology, hydrology, limnology, stormwater management, water quality, or wildlife studies. Other areas related to water resources may also qualify -Past scholarship recipients are allowed to reapply

Scholarship Open for International Students: No

Scholarship Description: The Mission of the Virginia Lakes and Watersheds Association is to conduct educational and scientific efforts to protect the quality and uses of Virginia’s water resources and watersheds. Virginia Lakes and Watersheds Association will offer two annual scholarships, each in the amount of approximately $2,500 to qualified applicants. The purpose of the scholarships is to support and acknowledge students for their academic and personal accomplishments in the field of water resources. A check in the amount of $2,500 to be applied only towards tuition or fees will be written to the college or university each recipient is currently attending. The scholarship recipient will be selected on the basis of academic performance, educational plans, and contribution to the field of water resources. We would like to award one of the scholarships to an undergraduate students and the other scholarship to a graduate student. If there are not suitable applicants for each category, the two scholarships may be awarded to undergraduate or graduate students or only one scholarship will be awarded. If there are many outstanding applicants, additional scholarships may be awarded.
