PSI seeks a dynamic candidate for a Research & Metrics (R&M) Assistant. The R&M Assistant will have a wide scope of responsibilities including; knowledge management, data analysis, and providing technical assistance to the R&M department. The candidate will work with PSI researchers based in Washington, DC and overseas. This position is based in Washington, D.C. and reports to a Researcher.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Monitor the documentation of a wide array of PSI research activities using the Dataverse Network (DVN), an innovate approach to archiving and sharing data; collect, analyze, and summarize research outputs for evidence of PSI's health impact; train staff on DVN and roll out DVN to PSI countries
• Perform literature reviews and synthesize findings for programmatic decision-making
• Maintain R&M contributions to PSI's internal knowledge management resource, Knowledge & Information eXchange (KIX) and advocate for use of knowledge management tools within R&M
• Contribute to peer-reviewed publications, technical documents, case studies, and other publications as needed
• Coordinate the maintenance, updates and revisions of the Research & Metrics web pages in collaboration with the Corporate Marketing, Communications, and Advocacy department
• Optimize the use of PSI's social media tools (e.g. SocialCast, Healthy Lives blog) to increase the visibility of R&M's innovative work
• Execute PSI's annual 'Customer Satisfaction Survey' and disseminate customized results to PSI Directors for improving their departments' performance
• Supervise departmental intern, and external consultants as needed
• Fulfill requests for research information and reference materials, and provide administrative support as needed to domestic and international Research & Metrics team members
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree required (a focus in public health, social sciences, development, or international relations preferred)
• At least two years of relevant work experience
• Strong interest in public health
• Works well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Keen attention to detail, highly organized, and able to multitask
• Takes initiative, manages own time, and prioritizes workload efficiently
• Excellent writing skills, with particular emphasis on creating concise text under time constraints
• Proficient in basic data analysis, generating descriptive statistics, and interpreting outputs
• Research and/or training experience strongly preferred
• Multimedia experience required (MS Word and Excel, social media, scholarly databases)
• Experience working in an international context preferred
The ideal candidate possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills. He/she is able to collaborate with colleagues across departments, levels of management, and countries within varying contexts.
