Montgomery Child Care Association (MCCA) is
currently looking for an Accounts Payable Associate at our administrative
office in Rockville, MD. The Accounts Payable Associate is a member the Finance
team and is responsible for processing all payables of MCCA. This staff member
organizes and executes the operations and activities of a centralized accounts
payables function.
OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Code invoices, receipts, etc. and assign charges to proper periods based on the accrual method of accounting ensuring that each invoice has appropriate documentation
- Issue, code, reimburse, and reclaim petty cash funds when staff terminate
- Maintain vendor database in the accounting system ensuring that information is kept accurate and up-to-date
- Set up vouchers in the accounting system, post charges to appropriate account codes and periods based on the coding of invoices, receipts, etc.
- Issue Association checks ensuring timely payment of all payables based on due dates listed on invoices
- Maintain files containing check copies with associated documentation of all payments issued
- Troubleshoot payables such as discrepancies between invoices and packing slips, etc.
- Generate reports needed by other administrative office staff for completion of their duties
- Manage a select number of bulk-ordering accounts
- Complete accounts payable including inputting accrued expenses for monthly financial statements
- Participate as a team member of Finance team
- Attend department and Association meetings as required.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Experience):
- A minimum of an Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field; or equivalent work experience is required.
- A Bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience in accounts payable.
COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
- Knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word software
- Demonstrated ability to take on progressively more complex responsibilities in previous position
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service skills including written and oral communications
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Highly dependable and responsible
- Self-motivated and resourceful
- Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude, team oriented and willingness to assist where/when needed
- Professional presentation
