The Youth Technical Team in the International
Development Division has an opening for a Senior International Technical
Advisor, reporting to the Youth Technical Team Director in Washington DC.
The Youth Technical Team is embarking on a new five
year strategy for which it is looking for a Senior Technical Advisor to provide
technical guidance to developing the team's approach and expanding its project
portfolio in the area of economic growth and youth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The person in this position is expected to
communicate clearly and courteously; to develop and maintain positive
relationships with clients, consultants, collaborators, co-workers, field
sites, and funders; and to work respectfully with EDC colleagues.
The job
requires adherence to EDC policies & procedures.
Directing all aspects of technical assistance
related to project, the Senior International Technical Advisor will:
Lead the
development EDC/IDD's approach to economic growth and youth programming,
including but not limited to:
Developing
publications or marketing materials that summarize EDC's approach
Identifying and liaising with partners and donors relevant to the youth
team's strategic priorities;
Leading
outreach meetings and participating in meetings relevant to economic growth and
youth workforce;
Analyze
market opportunities and contribute to strategy for developing new business in
areas of economic growth and workforce;.
Contribute
to the Youth Team's other strategic priorities, as needed.
Foster
synergies with other IDD technical teams.
Provide
technical assistance to youth programs, as needed.
Assist in
development and implementation of workplan and research agenda, strategizing,
setting technical priorities, and reviewing technical progress
Contribute
to proposals for youth programs and manage and provide technical support to
program activities
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires educational achievement;
excellent writing skills; demonstrable initiative, creativity, and flexibility;
ability to work independently and effectively in groups; and strong
interpersonal & organizational skills. Specific requirements:
Master's
degree, PhD preferred
Specific
technical expertise relevant to economic development, trade, competitiveness,
workforce, or related field
10+ years
related experience, including a minimum of 8 years supervisory/project
management or program development experience
Outstanding
leadership skills
Excellent
analytical skills and aptitude for details
Capacity
to work well under pressure
Fluent in
English
Extensive
international experience and experience in a developing country required
Excellent
networking and communication skills
