Note: This is a
one-year co-terminus ETC renewable appointment for one additional year. The
Global Partnership for Education is a global partnership launched in 2002 of
donors and developing countries , multilateral institutions and civil society
organizations, dedicated to ensuring that all children receive quality basic
education . It aims to achieve Education for All by efficiently using international
and national resources and matching donors’
priorities with developing
countries ’ own education strategies. The Global Partnership comprises all
major donors and agencies in education, 46 developing country partners,
numerous civil society organizations, private sector representatives and
foundations. It manages trust funds that have allocated approximately $2.2
billion over the past 8 years and will be allocating approximately a further
$2bn by 2014. The Global Partnership has a two-tiered governance structure.
At the country level, the Local Education Group (LEG) is the foundation for
governance. The LEG comprises the government, local donors, multilaterals,
and civil society organizations and others supporting the education sector.
Global Partnership country level processes are supported by global processes,
led by a representative Board of Directors. The Chair of the Board of
Directors is independent of the other Partners and represents the Board and
the Partnership as a whole. The Global Partnership’s Secretariat serves the
interests of all partners through administrative and technical support to the
Board of Directors and Chair and to the members of various committees and
working groups. It is hosted by the Education Department of the World Bank’s
Human Development Network. Secretariat staff are subject to employment
conditions and human resource policies and procedures of the host
organization, the World Bank. The Board of Directors has given clear
direction that fundraising and broader Partnership support be a major
priority of the Secretariat following the successful replenishment start-up
event in Copenhagen in November 2011. The ETC position will sit in the
External Affairs group and report to the Team Coordinator of the External
Affairs and Communications (EAC) team. The position will work closely with
the rest of the EAC Team, the Global Good Practices Team, the Country Support
Team, the Head of the Secretariat, and the Chair of the Global Partnership’s
Board of Directors. |
