PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To provide occupational therapy to district students in fine motor skills, sensory/perceptual motor skills, and self-care skills to insure that the students are able to benefit from the special education program.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Implement student occupational therapy goals and objectives under the supervision of a Licensed Occupational Therapist
Consult with the Licensed Occupational Therapist on specific student treatment plans, goals, and objectives
Provide assistance to the classroom teacher on accommodations for special needs of students in the school setting
Comply with the rules and regulations of the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
Abides by the Code of Ethics of the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners
Comply with campus rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy
Consult with educational staff regarding the use of specialized equipment and materials
Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant people to enhance their work with students
Effectively communicate with colleagues, students and parents
Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignments
Maintain confidentiality in all school matters
Other duties as assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 187 days per year
SALARY RANGE: Professional pay grade 1
BEGINNING DATE: 2011 – 2012 school year
LOCATION: G. K. Foster
REPORTS TO: Campus principal

Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED
Occupational Therapy Assistant License
At least one-year of experience as a COTA
